April 2021

  • Quality Mark programme temporarily suspended. Due to the pandemic Quality Mark is not currently collecting data. Activity and awards are temporarily suspended. We aim to restart the programme in September 2021.

April 2020

  • The Quality Mark for Elder-Friendly Hospital Wards has suspended data collection activities from April-September 2020, while the NHS tackles the Covid-19 pandemic. We wish all our current members, former members and prospective member ward teams the very best as they deal with this huge challenge, and look forward to when normal service should resume in Autumn 2020.

February 2020

  • Spaces are available in both the Spring and Autumn 2020 cycles for new wards looking to take part in the Quality Mark! Please explore our website and contact us for more information.
  • Many congratulations to the team on Guernsey Ward at Alderney Community Hospital, Dorset, who have earned the Quality Mark for three years!
  • Congratulations to the following acute wards who have achieved the Quality Mark for three years: Fitzwilliam Ward (Rotherham General Hospital), Linden Ward (Darent Valley Hospital) and Gate 9A (Southmead Hospital)!
  • Two wards have renewed their Quality Mark for another three years - congratulations to the teams on Elizabeth Ward and Hanham Ward at Bedford Hospital, who have met this significant milestone!
  • We are recruiting new clinical professionals to become members of the Quality Mark Award Committee, the voluntary committee which is responsible for assessing ward reports and awarding the Quality Mark. March 2019

  • Three wards have maintained their award for a further three years - congratulations to Combe and Waterhouse Wards (Royal United Hospital, Bath) and Ward C5 (Royal Blackburn Hospital), who have successfully repeated Stage II and rejoined the Quality Mark!
  • Three wards have undertaken their first round of Stage II data collection and successfully achieved the high standard required. Congratulations to Hanham Ward (Victoria Hospital, Dorset), Ryeberry & Langdon combined wards (Bridport Community Hospital) and The Willows unit (The Yeatman Hospital, Dorset), who have all achieved the Quality Mark until 2022!

September 2018

  • We have a new Associate Membership and are looking for wards to trial this for 50% off full price. Please find out more if you are interested in getting involved.
  • Our first national report has been released! The report focuses on Patient and Staff Feedback to explore improvements in the quality of care provided to older patients.

July 2018

  • Three wards have maintained their award for a further three years!
  • Congratulations to Eashing Ward (Royal Surrey County Hospital), Ward 52 (Darlington Memorial Hospital) and Ward 45 (Manchester Royal Infirmary) for repeating Stage II to re-join the Quality Mark!
