Revalidation problems facing doctors in private and independent practice

Dr Danny Allen

Chair of PIPSIG

Series of revalidation and CPD workshops: February - October 2014

The Private and Independent Practice Special Interest Group (PIPSIG) in conjunction with the Consortium of Expert Witnesses to the Family Courts is organising a series of workshops to look at particular issues affecting independent doctors who want to revalidate. These will be held in:

As well as this core issue, the day will also include a broader programme of CPD relevant to this group of doctors.  If you are a College Member you will need to join PIPSIG before applying – you can do this by emailing

As we have no idea how much interest these workshops will attract they are limited in capacity so it is ‘first come first served’.  However, if demand greatly exceeds supply we will consider what further steps we can take to meet this.

Each day will be an opportunity to hear from the GMC, as well as from private suppliers of revalidation services, about not only what is required but also how it is possible to meet these requirements without a managed organisation.  Plenty of time will be allowed for networking and questions and we hope that the day proves useful for all attendees.

It will also be an opportunity for participants to meet members of the PIPSIG executive and to share their concerns and invigorate us with ideas for further meetings.
