RCPsych Fellowships
Applications for RCPsych Fellowship are currently open and will close on 15 September 2024.
We award Fellowship as a mark of distinction and recognition of contribution to psychiatry. If you've been a member since 1 January 2014 or earlier, you can seize this opportunity to showcase your leadership and dedication and apply today.
When applying you should give examples of:
- setting standards and promoting excellence in mental health care
- leadership, representation and advancing support for psychiatrists
- collaborating closely with patients, carers, and their advocates.

New Academy of Medical Royal Colleges report
A new report Securing our healthy future: Prevention is better than cure has been published by the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges. This report makes the case for prioritising the prevention of ill health in childhood in order to ease pressure on the NHS and to help build a strong economy.

Tribute to Professor Sir Michael Rutter
It is a year since the passing of Professor Sir Michael Rutter, ‘The Father of Child Psychiatry.’ At a memorial day in June, friends, families and colleagues reflected on his life and amazing contribution to child psychiatry and developmental psychopathology as we know it today.

Ukraine
The invasion of Ukraine with the attendant loss of life, injuries and displacement of families is devastating for its citizens and of concern to us all.

Joint statement with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health
In December 2021 the Royal College of Psychiatrists has issued a joint statement with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health about meeting the mental health needs of children and young people in acute hospitals. Read the full statement (LINK).

Dr Meinou Simmons, Consultant Psychiatrist in Oxfordshire CAMHS and TPD in Thames Valley, has written a handbook called ‘A Guide to the Mental Health of Children and Young People: Q and A for Parents, Caregivers and Teachers’ with Cambridge University Press in association with the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The book covers a breadth of different mental health issues affecting children and young people.
The College has a set of resources for international disasters that may be useful for psychiatrists working in humanitarian emergencies and conflict areas.
