About the faculty

Our vibrant and active faculty supports old age psychiatrist and trainees, promotes the mental wellbeing of older people and their families, and protects their rights.


New video

This short video explores the symptoms of depression in older people and what help you can get if you are feeling depressed. The video also shows how to cope if you are a friend or family member of an elderly person suffering from depression.

NHS Primer on Mental Health in Older People

New NHS guidelines for practitioners in primary care

NHS England and NHS Improvement have published a document aimed at medical practitioners in primary care, in particular GPs, which highlights symptoms often attributed to old age but where a mental health diagnosis and follow-up is more appropriate.
