Reciprocal social interaction: Social-emotional reciprocity

Social-emotional reciprocity is about a person’s ability to relate to others - including sharing experiences with others and being interested in the lives of others.

This includes the ability to:

  • mix socially, and to converse with others without dominating the conversation or relying on question-and-answer.
  • understand other people’s intentions and to discuss emotions (the latter is included in a later section).
