- An understanding of evidence-based practice for assessing and treating OCD, as outlined by the NICE guidelines
- An overview of specialised CBT for young people with OCD, with a focus on exposure with response prevention (ERP)
- An understanding of the considerations and challenges associated with particularly severe and chronic OCD presentations.
Information about Dr Bruce Clark and Dr Lauren Peile
Dr Bruce Clarke
Dr Bruce Clark is the Clinical Director for the child and adolescent mental health service at SLaM, and a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. He is an expert in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), leading the National and Specialist OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Service at SLaM.
This is the only such specialist CAMHS team in the United Kingdom and the service has an international reputation for innovation, research and delivery of the highest quality treatment of OCD and BDD. The team sees cases from across the United Kingdom as well as international patients.
Dr Clark is also an Honorary Researcher at the King’s College London Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN).
Dr Lauren Peile
Dr Lauren Peile is a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the National and Specialist OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Service at SLaM. Within the team she takes a lead in developing the work with inpatient services and other enhanced modes of treatment and overseeing the delivery of the NHS England Highly Specialist Services pathway for children and young people.
In her clinical role she is involved in leading multi-disciplinary specialist assessments, and delivering treatment approaches including weekly, intensive, home-based and inpatient treatment as well as consultation and joint work with other clinicians.
