Dr Martin Ansell 

Divisional Recruitment Co-Lead (shared with Peninsula Consultant) for the South West Division. Dr Ansell's role is to co-ordinate the Choose Psychiatry activity in the Severn Deanery area of the South West region, chairing the Severn Choose Psychiatry Network and representing the South West Division at the central College Choose Psychiatry meetings.  

Dr Liz Adams

Divisional Recruitment Co-Lead for the Peninsula Deanery area. Dr Adams co-ordinates the Choose Psychiatry activities in the south of the Division and is based in Plymouth. She chairs meetings of the Choose Psychiatry Network in Devon and Cornwall, which includes links with medical schools in Exeter and Truro and Plymouth.

Her interest in promoting recruitment stems from joint working with the medical school in Plymouth, in helping to identify factors to nurture budding psychiatrists, as part of the medical school’s agenda to recruit more students, to fill gaps in General Practice and Psychiatry. 

Dr John Potokar

Dr Potokar is the Head of Psychiatry Teaching at the  University of Bristol (UOB) and an Honorary Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. He set up Bristol PsychSoc with Galenicals support in 2009 and has led on the curriculum changes which has seen Psychiatry move to a more spiral course within UOB with major inputs in years 2, 3 and 4.

He wants all graduates to be knowledgeable, skilful and compassionate when assessing the mental health of their patients as Foundation Doctors with the wisest and most emotionally mature considering Psychiatry as their professional destiny.

Dr Katy Franklin, Dr Sally Stuart and Dr Stephanie Upton

Psychiatry Trainee Co-Leads for the Severn Network.  Katy, Sally and Stephanie are responsible for attending the central Choose Psychiatry Committee meetings at the College and helping to implement the Choose Psychiatry strategy locally.  Their role includes co-ordinating trainee involvement in the various recruitment projects we run across the deanery area, including school talks, and planning the Severn Autumn School for foundation doctors. They also work closely with our Choose Psychiatry representatives at local hospitals to ensure that foundation doctors have up-to-date information about College initiatives.

Dr Leanne Tozer

Psychiatry Trainee Lead for the Peninsula Network. Leanne is responsible for attending the central Choose Psychiatry Committee meetings at the College and helping to implement the Choose Psychiatry strategy locally. Her role includes co-ordinating trainee involvement in the various recruitment projects we run across the deanery area, including school talks, and planning the Peninsula Spring School of Psychiatry. She also works closely with our Choose Psychiatry representatives at local hospitals to ensure that foundation doctors have up-to-date information about College initiatives.

Dr Jenny Cole and Dr Catherine Trimble

Psychiatry Deputy Trainee Leads for the Severn Network. Jenny and Catherine have a complementary role to that of the Trainee Co-Leads and they work closely with our Choose Psychiatry supporters, university Psychiatry Societies, local organisations and the Division office to support divisional activities.
