Awards, prizes and bursaries

There are lots of opportunities to apply for funding to support your psychiatry studies, through bursaries and awards schemes run by the college.

Fellowships

Medical students in their penultimate year can apply for the Pathfinder Fellowship award, which is worth up to £5,000 over 3 years and comes with a range of fantastic benefits.

Regional and specialty-based

Our divisions run regional award schemes, while faculties offer opportunities relating to sub-specialties. We also have special interest groups (SIGs) which offer prizes to medical students and foundation doctors.

RCPsych Awards

The RCPsych Awards mark the highest levels of achievement in psychiatry, and have now been extended to include awards for medical students and foundation doctors.

Psychiatric Trainees’ Committee (PTC) Bursary

The PTC offers up to 11 bursaries for medical students and foundation doctors looking for financial support with their electives in psychiatry or to undertake research in the UK or overseas.
