About us

The Perinatal Section was inaugurated in 1996. It aims to:

  • promote the subject of perinatal psychiatry within the College
  • provide a network of support and information for interested psychiatrists
  • promote the provision of services for childbearing women with mental health problems
  • develop educational opportunities for psychiatrists in training
  • foster research in the area of perinatal psychiatry
  • act as a resource for the College in its links with other related professional bodies, governmental organisations and the public

The Section has an annual scientific meeting. The inaugural meeting was held in 2002 and are now timed to occur in November of each year. Programmes of past meetings can be found below. Non-members are welcome to attend and details of forthcoming meetings are posted on these pages. An annual business meeting is held during the scientific meeting.
