'In Practice' exhibition

In Practice is an exhibition by Dr Adam Hines-Green, the current Artist in Residence at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The works are distributed in fourteen locations around the College. They include tracings of texts taken from the College’s antiquarian library and archive. The project considers who psychiatrists are meant to be, what they are meant to value, and what they are meant to do.

It also considers how some of these characteristics have remained remarkably consistent over time, while others have morphed in response to social and professional needs. Finally, it provides some insight into the evolution of professions and work more broadly in society, touching on our shared understanding of competence, responsibility, regulation, workloads, hierarchy and teamwork.

Adam would like to thank Catriona Grant, Fiona Watson and Francis Maunze for all their generous support in making this project possible.
