Dr Louise Egan is a Specialist Psychiatrist working in Early Intervention in Psychosis and Intensive Community Rehabilitation services in North Lincolnshire. She has over 25 years’ experience in psychiatry, having worked across a wide range of services within both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry including inpatient care, early intervention, assertive outreach, and rehabilitation teams. Louise’s clinical interests include the transition from CAMHs to adult mental health care, understanding the impacts of trauma, trauma-informed care and women’s mental health. She became an Approved Clinician through the portfolio route in 2021.

Louise has particular interest in doctors’ wellbeing, especially supporting the development, recognition and leadership of Specialty and Specialist (SAS) doctors. She has been actively involved in SAS advocacy locally and nationally and in 2023 she received an RCPsych Hall of Fame Award for her contribution to psychiatry in the Trent region, including her work in SAS advocacy.

Louise was appointed Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Specialty and Specialist Doctors’ Committee in 2026. As Chair, Louise is keen to strengthen the voice and visibility of SAS psychiatrists across the College and to ensure that SAS psychiatrists are represented and involved at all levels. Louise is particularly passionate about enabling SAS psychiatrists to develop fulfilling and sustainable careers, recognising the breadth of expertise and experience they bring to psychiatry and to patient care.
