Dr Osa Omosigho

Devolved Nation - Scotland (Dundee & Aberdeen)

I want to use the skills and experiences that I have gained through life and also from my work as a psychiatrist to listen and understand the needs of my fellow resident doctor colleagues. I hope to and act as an advocate for my colleagues and work collaboratively with other members of the PRDC to improve the work environment, address educational needs and promote wellbeing for resident doctors.

I am aware of the issues such as managing a healthy work life balance especially whilst preparing for exams and other forms of assessment. I have experienced the difficulties resident doctors face when trying to identify suitable materials to help with study for the MRCPsych exam. I am also acutely aware of issues with the ever-increasing workload and the effect this can have on the mental health of resident doctors. I look forward to using my position with the PRDC to address these issues.

I have a keen interest in Old Age Psychiatry, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to pursue this specialty in higher training. I hope to use the skills from my years of training to provide holistic care for all my patients.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping fit at the gym and try to keep this up multiple times a week, as work will allow. I enjoy watching sports such as football, boxing and F1. I enjoy travelling and learning the history of places that I visit. I also enjoy spending time with my family; they keep my grounded and constantly remind me about why I do what I do.
