Dr Stefania Bonaccorso

Dr Stefania Bonaccorso is a Consultant Psychiatrist at North London NHS Foundation Trust, where she also serves as Clinical Director for Inpatient Services and Joint Director of Medical Education. She is a senior clinical leader with extensive experience in psychiatry, medical education, service development, and workforce leadership, and was elected Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists London Division in 2026.
She trained in medicine and psychiatry at the University of Rome La Sapienza, completed a PhD at Maastricht University, and post-doctoral studies in USA. She qualified as a Psychoanalyst through the British Psychoanalytic Association. Her international academic career has included appointments in Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom, with roles at institutions including Vanderbilt University, King’s College London, University College London, and the University of Hertfordshire.
Dr Bonaccorso has a longstanding commitment to teaching, supervision, and professional development, with leadership roles in undergraduate and postgraduate psychiatric education. She also has an extensive research background in psychopharmacology, psychosis, depression, inflammation, and psychoanalysis, with publications in leading international journals. Her work is distinguished by the integration of clinical leadership, academic scholarship, and a strong commitment to mental healthcare.
