Helen Smith

Helen is a semi-retired consultant forensic psychiatrist at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. She previously worked as the national clinical advisor in mental health to the national patient safety team (2018-23). She was the executive medical director at Devon Partnership NHS Trust (2010-18) and the clinical lead within the Trusts secure services (2008-10).

She has trained in systematic approaches in quality improvement with the Institute for Health Improvement (IHI) and in scale up and spread techniques with the Billions Institute USA.

Most recently, she was part of the team commissioned by NHS England to review services within Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust (2023-24) after a Panorama BBC broadcast in 2022.
