Dr Mihaela Bucur
Presidential Lead for Lifestyle Determinants
Dr Mihaela Bucur is a Consultant Psychiatrist, Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician through the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM). Her work focuses on the impact of lifestyle determinants on mental health, including physical activity, nutrition, sleep, stress management, green space access, and social connection, alongside reducing physical health inequalities experienced by people with mental illness.
Dr Bucur has held senior leadership positions including Trustee and Vice Co-Chair of BSLM, Chair of its Mental Health Special Interest Group, Director at World Lifestyle Medicine Education Services, Associate Registrar for Wellbeing and Retention, and Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Wellbeing Committee. She also brings extensive NHS clinical leadership experience.
She has served as Course Lead for postgraduate psychiatry courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is currently Director of Education and Training at Psychiatry UK. Her work focuses on translating evidence into accessible education and embedding lifestyle medicine principles within contemporary psychiatric practice.
