Programme
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Annual Faculty Conference 2024.
We are delighted to have a full faculty of all three of Scotland’s Professors of Child and Adolescent psychiatry, and a bonus Professor from Oxford joining us on the day!
Professor Rachel Upthegrove (Oxford and Birmingham Universities) will present her research on youth mental health and illness onset, and Professor Chris Gillberg (Gothenburg and Glasgow Universities) will present his latest work on neurodiversity and child mental health. Professors Helen Minnis (Glasgow) and Ian Kelleher (Edinburgh) will chair sessions and join the expert panel.
We are also delighted to have presentations from Dr Sinead Rhodes and Dr Jason Lang on their research on neurodiversity as well as support and approaches for schools, families, and young people. Sharon Graham will get us thinking as she presents her work as Expert through Experience with Glasgow University. Dr Mairi Stark, Chair of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health will present on the 'Worried and Waiting' study and Scottish Paediatric Services.
Our experts will then take questions and discuss the role of CAMHS in meeting the needs of neurodiverse children and young people. We have a very interesting range of rapid fire presentations from our wonderful trainees and researchers, and are delighted to round up the day with this year’s thoughts on all things Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with Dr Elaine Lockhart, Chair, CAP Faculty, RCPsych UK.
We will have posters at breaks and lunch, and lots of time for networking. The CAPFEC AGM is also at lunchtime, and we are in need of new trainee recruits!
We were delighted when the membership voted for another in-person event in Edinburgh, to join us. At a time when the workforce is under such immense pressure and scrutiny, this conference provides an opportunity to connect and support.
To this end, after such a busy day, we invite you all to an informal social gathering, with bar food available to order, within the hotel's Grande Cafe mezzanine area. The Edinburgh Christmas Market with all the lights, stalls and street food is also very close by.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Please now find attached the event delegate pack.
