What is this masterclass about?
The masterclass will cover the evidence-base and the practical clinical aspects related to the diagnosis, epidemiology, differential diagnoses, comorbidities, aetiology, and the pharmacological as well as non-pharmacological management of ARFID and Feeding disorders.
What will you learn from this masterclass?
At the end of the masterclass, delegates should become more knowledgeable and confident in the assessment and management of children and adolescents presenting with ARFID and feeding disorders.
Learning objectives:
- Improved knowledge about the diagnosis of Young People with ARFID taking into account risk and comorbidity
- Greater understanding of the variability in signs and symptoms of ARFID and its distinction from other difficulties and disorders
- Greater understanding of the multidisciplinary elements of assessment and in young people with ARFID including ARFID specific standardized assessment and outcome measures.
- Increased confidence in developing a formulation for young people with ARFID to inform treatment
- Increased knowledge of a range of psychological; nutritional and medical interventions.
- Increased awareness of the challenges in managing this population and the impact of service-related issues in the management of young people with ARFID.
Speaker biographies
Dr Pippa Hugo and Dr Philippa Buckley both have extensive experience in working with Feeding and Eating Disorders across both out-patient and in-patient settings within the NHS and Private sector.
Dr Hugo is Consultant and Clinical Lead for the MCCAED ARFID service at The Maudsley Hospital, and Dr Buckley is Consultant and Clinical Lead in the Feeding and Eating Disorder Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
They will be joined by members of the multi-disciplinary teams at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Maudsley teams.
