Overview
This webinar will review the nature, efficacy, cost effectiveness and mechanism of action of transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment resistant depression.
Key learning objectives:
- To be able to describe what TMS is and the different forms that are used in clinical practice for treatment resistant depression.
- To understand the evidence base for it's use and it's potential place in clinical pathways.
Speaker
We will be joined by Professor Richard Morriss, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Nottingham.
Professor Morriss is General Adult Psychiatrist with an interest in the application of technology to manage mood disorders, particularly depression and bipolar disorder. He is a current National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator, the theme lead for the Nottingham NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, NIHR Applied Research Centre East Midlands mental health and well-being theme, and the National NIHR Mental Health (MindTech) HealthTech Collaboration.
He was the chief investigator for the NIHR EME-funded BRIGhTMIND study that investigated the efficacy, cost effectiveness and mechanism of action of two forms of MRI neuronavigated transcranial magnetic stimulation in treatment resistant depression.
