Identifying Psychosis Risk in CAMHS

Event Information

The Trent Division are pleased to host this webinar on 'Identifying psychosis risk in CAMHS using healthcare register data', with Dr Kirstie O'Hare, PHD, University of Edinburgh.

Speaker

Dr Kirstie O'Hare is a research fellow based in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh and an adjunct research fellow at UNSW Sydney. Her research interests include investigating outcomes for children and young people who attend mental health services as well as more broadly understanding risk factors and developmental pathways to mental illness, particularly for psychosis and self-harm. She uses longitudinal cohort studies and large-scale administrative record-linkage data from Australia, Wales, Scotland, and Finland to investigate these questions.

Presentation overview
This presentation will discuss new research using healthcare register data to show how risk for psychosis is routinely captured in child and adolescent mental health services. It will also discuss research examining which factors are associated with elevated psychosis risk among CAMHS patients.

Key learning objectives

  • Understanding what the current approaches to predicting psychosis risk in children and adolescents are.
  • Understanding of how risk for psychosis is routinely captured in child and adolescent mental health services.
  • Understanding of which factors are associated with increased risk of psychosis among CAMHS patients.
