Let Wisdom Guide: Reflections from RCPsych Past Presidents

Event Information

This year, the College is celebrating 100 years since we were awarded a Royal Charter. Amongst other activity to mark the occasion, we are delighted to host a special member event on the date of the centenary itself - Friday 13 March 2026 - inviting the College's past presidents back to reflect on how psychiatry has changed over the years, and what the future holds.

The event will consist of an hour's drinks reception, between 5-6pm, followed by an 'in conversation with' event, hosted by current RCPsych President, Dr Lade Smith CBE.

Dr Smith will be joined by Dr Adrian James (President 2020-2023), Professor Sir Simon Wessely (President 2014-2017), Professor Dinesh Bhugra (President 2008-2011), Professor Shelia Hollins (2005-2008), Dr Mike Shooter (President 2002-2005) and Professor John Cox (1999-2022).

The evening will draw to a close at 7.30pm.

5-6pm – Drinks and nibbles

6-7.30pm – In conversation event

7.30pm – Event close

Catering

Wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and water will be provided between 5-6pm, as well as some bar snacks.
