Event Information

RCPsych in Wales will be hosting a dinner at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Wrexham on 28 October, the evening before the conference. We'd be delighted if you could join us. To express your interest, please email nia.thomas@rcpsych.ac.uk.

We are pleased to share the programme for the RCPsych in Wales Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry Conference taking place at the Wrexham Medical Institute this October.

The programme offers a full day of engaging sessions, including talks on workforce and recruitment, novel therapeutics in dementia and biomarkers, alcohol and capacity assessments, the new Pathway and Competence Framework for Dementia Care in Wales, and what old age psychiatrists need to know from a neurologist.

We will be holding a poster competition as part of the RCPsych in Wales Old Age Conference, and are welcoming medical students, foundation doctors, resident doctors, and SAS doctors to enter their submissions.

Along with the opportunity to give an oral presentation on their poster, winners will receive:
  • 1st place: free entry to the present conference and to a future old age conference
  • 2nd place: free entry to the present conference

The deadline for submissions is Friday 18th September, with winners to be announced during the conference.

Abstract submission requirements:
  • 150 words
  • Structure: Background, methodology, results, discussion
  • Submissions must be on a topic relevant to old age psychiatry
  • Any type of study is acceptable (e.g., clinical governance, case reports, reviews, etc.)

One of the authors must be able to register and attend the conference in person and the presenter will need to print the poster in A1 size. To enter the competition, please send all submissions to nia.thomas@rcpsych.ac.uk.
