Event Information
What does a successful career in psychiatry look like today?
Increasingly, psychiatrists are exploring careers that extend beyond the traditional NHS pathway, from independent practice and portfolio careers to hybrid NHS/private roles, international work and building their own multidisciplinary services and organisations.
This conference brings together psychiatrists who have taken different paths to share candidly what they have learned along the way.
Through a series of short, personal talks, we will explore the practical realities of making career transitions, managing clinical and financial risk, building a private practice or organisation, developing a portfolio career, and moving between NHS and independent work.
Speakers will also reflect candidly on the less visible aspects of these careers: uncertainty, responsibility, boundaries and difficult decisions, what they would do differently and what they wish they had known earlier.
The day will conclude with an interactive panel discussion. Dedicated informal networking time will also be built in throughout the day, offering a range of opportunities to ask questions, share experiences and connect with colleagues considering their own next steps.
Places are purposefully limited to ensure maximal engagement and rich discussions. This is the conference to give you the answers you won’t find on paper.
Confirmed speakers:
- Dr Mona Freeman
- Dr Reena Manghnani
- Dr Ed Burns
- Dr Danny Allen
- Dr Amber Sadiq
- Dr Eleanor Tiangga
- Dr Gaby Pendlebury
