Today, 2 June 2022, Her Majesty the Queen announced the Birthday Honours list. We're delighted that RCPsych Member, Dr Asim Yusuf - a leading Consultant Psychiatrist and Islamic Scholar - was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to the Muslim community.

Dr Adrian James, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists said:

“We are delighted that an esteemed RCPsych member Dr Asim Yusuf received a Birthday honour.

“Our members make it their life’s work to help communities across the world and it is very fitting that Asim’s work combining spirituality and mental health has been recognised today.”

Also recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this Jubilee weekend were members of our fellow Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, and several others working tirelessly to improve services in mental health.

Dr Trudi Seneviratne, Registrar of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said:

“It’s wonderful to see so many dedicated individuals recognised for their services to helping patients. It is only through collaboration with a broad range of professionals and a holistic approach that we will improve both mental and physical health care. Many congratulations.”
