Note: this news item was updated on 13 February 5.42pm to add additional information.

During yesterday’s MRCPsych Paper B examination, we became aware that candidates couldn't flag or review some of the questions in the exam. We have now been able to identify all the candidates who were impacted by this technical error.

We have written to all the candidates who were impacted to confirm the steps that will be followed once their results have been published. If candidates meet the pass mark for the exam, then the result will stand. If candidates do not meet the pass mark their attempt will be annulled and they will be offered a free resit.

We are actively working on arrangements to provide a resit diet before the next scheduled Paper B2026-2 exam (2026-2) on 19 May 2026 to minimise delays to candidate progression. Further details and timings of this will be shared with candidates as soon as they are confirmed.

We have also written to the small number of candidates who were not impacted by the technical failure to assure them that their exam was not affected by the technical failure.

We fully recognise the disruption and concern that this incident will have caused, and we are deeply sorry for the distress and uncertainty that candidates have experienced.
