Addictions Credential Mentor
- Salary : 0.25 PAs per week
The Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) is seeking to appoint Mentors for the Addictions Credential (Pilot). This role offers the opportunity to support doctors undertaking the credential by providing structured guidance, supervision, and professional development.
Mentors will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of addiction psychiatrists, ensuring candidates receive high-quality support throughout the credential journey.
Addictions regional leads who become mentors will be numerated by their existing arrangement.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate a Personal Development Plan (PDP) tailored to each delegate’s educational needs.
- Meet fortnightly (virtually or in person) with your appointed delegate.
- Act as a resource for information and guidance.
- Keep records of supervision sessions for inclusion in the delegate’s portfolio.
- Complete an end-of-credential evaluation report with recommendations.
- Participate in journal clubs and group case-based discussions every six weeks.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Substantial clinical experience in addiction psychiatry.
- Experience in mentoring, supervision, or coaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organisational ability to manage sessions and maintain accurate records.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and fostering a culture of learning.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to doctors with substantial clinical experience in addiction psychiatry who can demonstrate a strong commitment to education, service development, and leadership. Applicants should be on the specialist register with an Addictions endorsement, though in particular cases eligibility may be discussed individually.
