RCPsych MPAC Task and Finish Group update

The Multi-Professional Approved Clinician (MPAC) Task and Finish Group has been established to undertake a review and to create guidance on how Multidisciplinary teams, which involve MPACs can work best in the delivery of good quality safe mental healthcare to patients.

The Psychiatric Resident Doctors’ Committee (PRDC) has launched a survey for Resident Doctors on this topic. Please check your email for the link and submit your response by Friday 13 March.

Since its establishment in November 2025, the group has met twice. It has agreed the terms of reference and produced a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs), both of which are available on our MPAC review pages.

A subgroup has also convened separately to consider issues related to supervision and patient safety, including reviewing the supervision guidance in the Silver Guide.

The next meeting of the group is scheduled to be at the end of March to consider the evidence gathered so far and to agree next steps.

The group will continue to meet regularly.

The final conclusions and any recommendations will be based on evidence gathered and feedback received from relevant stake holders during the course of the review
