Dr Venkatalakshmi Penchilaiya
England - Trent
I am an IMG from India and a ST5 LTFT resident doctor at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. I am passionate about advocating for resident doctors and contributing meaningfully to the development of psychiatric training and workforce wellbeing. I am keen to work with resident doctors on improving resident doctor wellbeing, ensuring equitable training opportunities for LTFT and IMG doctors, and addressing practical challenges around parental leave, rota gaps and workload pressures. I am particularly interested in engaging with colleagues to develop supportive, inclusive and sustainable solutions that improve the day-to-day training experience for resident doctors.
My areas of interest include phenomenology, psychopathology, perinatal psychiatry and medical education. I aspire to become a perinatal consultant and compassionate educator.
Outside of work, I am a proud mum of two and enjoy arts and crafts, dancing and home décor, which allow me to be creative, relax and maintain a healthy work–life balance.
