Dr Livia Martucci MBBS PhD MRCPsych
Dr Livia Martucci graduated in medicine and surgery in 1998 from the University of Milan. After her registration she moved to the University of Toronto where she completed a PhD at the Institute of Medical Sciences and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, focussing on the genetics of major psychosis. A number of local and international presentations as well as publications resulted from this work and a subsequent 18 months post doctoral fellowship. She was accepted to the Maudsley Psychiatry Training Scheme and later, for her specialist training, as an Academic Clinical Lecturer. During this time she developed an interest in medical education and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education at the Institute of Education, UCL.
Dr Martucci has worked as a consultant since 2012 and has specialised in Perinatal Psychiatry. Her work has been in the community setting, both in North and South East London. She has set up a joint obstetric psychiatric clinic in King’s College Hospital and has been the Clinical Lead for SLaM perinatal services since 2019, while maintaining an active clinical role.
She has contributed to the perinatal faculty as elected member, academic secretary, member of the curriculum group, and as part of the workforce group, developing assessment protocols for the perinatal bursary holders as well as contributing in a supervisory role.
Over the years Dr Martucci has developed an interest in mental capacity and the law, and has designed, co-chaired and taught a perinatal masterclass offered by the college to new perinatal psychiatrists since 2017.
Dr Martucci has recently been appointed Chair of the Perinatal Faculty, starting on 18 June 2024.
