Dr Livia Martucci
Chair, Perinatal Faculty
Dr Livia Martucci is a consultant in perinatal psychiatry and works in the community. She is the Clinical Director for the South London Perinatal Provider Collaborative and the outgoing Clinical Lead for SLaM perinatal services. She has co-written the perinatal section of the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines, and a founding member of the Valproate Forum in SLaM. She is the Chair of the Perinatal Faculty, and the outgoing Chair of Faculty Chairs.
After her medical degree and registration at the University of Milan, she obtained a PhD at the University of Toronto, focussing on the genetics of major psychosis. Several local and international presentations as well as publications resulted from this work and a subsequent 18 month post doctoral fellowship. She trained at the Maudsley Psychiatry Training Scheme and later completed her specialist training as an Academic Clinical Lecturer. During this time she developed an interest in medical education and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education at the Institute of Education, UCL.
Dr Martucci has developed an interest in mental capacity and Law and has contributed to the chapter on this topic for the perinatal seminar series book. She has led on the development of obstetric psychiatric clinics and the expansion of perinatal services in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
