Dr Neil Horn
Chair, African Division
After training at the University of Cape Town then MEDUNSA as a Primary Care Physician, Dr Neil Horn studied Psychiatry and Cognitive Therapy in the UK. During that time he was honoured to be offered a Wellcome Research Registrar position at the University of Manchester.
He returned to UCT as a Senior Lecturer and Lead Consultant for services in Acute, Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Units. His main research interests were Depression, Bipolar Disorder and Service Development. After a few years in Private Practice in Cape Town he gained a great deal of experience working with Adolescents, and in helping people with Anxiety, ADHD and treatment of Addictions.
In 2022 Dr Horn relocated to Nairobi where he was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to provide consultation, supervision and teaching at Chiromo Hospital and other centres around Kenya.
He looks forward to chairing the African Division of the College, with challenges of sparse and inequitable resources, huge and geographically and culturally widely dispersed populations, and strengths of wonderful dedicated people, both clinicians and academics, and pockets of excellence.
