Dr Aamer Sajjad
Chair, Trent Division
Dr Aamer Sajjad is a graduate of Rawalpindi Medical College (University). He is a Fellow (FRCPsych) and Chair of Trent Division and CASC examiner of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is Treasurer and vice chair of the British Pakistani Psychiatrists Association.
Dr Sajjad has actively engaged in Royal College of Psychiatrists' strategic activities and has had held senior positions in the College including Regional Advisor for the Trent Division, Elected Executive Member of the General Adult Psychiatry Faculty and had represented the Psychopharmacology Committee.
He completed his psychiatry training in London and Liverpool. He has an MSc in Health and Social Care Management from Liverpool John Moores University. Dr Sajjad is a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, and he is Executive Medical Director and Responsible Officer for the Designated Body (NAViGO).
Dr Sajjad is Caldicott Guardian and he has expertise in Clinical Governance, Mental Health Legislations, Pharmacy and Therapeutic Services, Medical Education, service development and promoting psychiatry as a career. He led his organisation in becoming Approved Sponsoring Body for the GMC registration and has helped with the recruitment crisis in NHS and leadership development in various capacities.
Dr Sajjad is a recognised Trainer by the GMC and is also a tutor of Hull York Medical School. He is the author of several policies, guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. He is a strong believer and advocate of mental health patients’ autonomy and parity of esteem.
