Information for authors
Peer review
All submitted articles are subject to peer review and the final decision on acceptance rests with the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. While our peer review process is stringent, we aim to offer an excellent experience to all our authors that results in a strengthened and improved article through supportive engagement with your peers and other experts.
Invited papers
For a minority of article types across the portfolio, an invitation or pre-approval of a proposal is required – this is specified in the author instructions. An invitation or pre-approved proposal is required for all submission to BJPsych Advances.
Transferring papers
Occasionally, either before or after peer review, we may recommend that your article would be a better fit for another journal in the portfolio, and with your permission will assist you to transfer your submission.
Funding support
Our journals have a variety of publication access and funding models, from hybrid (where some content is paywalled and other content is open access) to fully open access. We believe that journals must publish articles based on their contribution to the literature rather than an author's funding situation and the decision to accept an article to any journal in the BJPsych portfolio is based entirely on the quality of the work.
