Event Information

If you are a medical student wishing to attend this conference, please contact Annie Fabian to register.

We are delighted to confirm that the conference will be opened on the Thursday at 1pm by the Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Sarah Murphy MS.

After this, we will have talks looking at the changing landscape, including "Needle Exchange: Keeping People Alive Since 1985" and "Buvidal and BPSS: Letting People Live Full And Active Lives in 2025?".

The next day, we have a series of talks in the morning on the challenges of addiction in diverse clinical populations including general adult, old age, ADHD and LD psychiatry.

This is followed, in the afternoon, by three workshops - on emerging drugs of abuse, on gambling/porn/gaming addictions and on the Buvidal Psychological Support Service (BPPS) – with a final talk and poster prize giving finishing the day.

We are grateful for Welsh Government support for this conference, this has enabled the conference to be run at some subsidy.

Additionally, RCPsych Wales works in partnership with NHS Wales’ Joint Commissioning Committee on its ‘Dyfodol’ programme. Learning from this conference will also help inform a review of substance misuse services in Wales, which was further commissioned by Welsh Government and is being delivered as part of the Dyfodol programme.

The review will also identify areas of development for future services. This conference programme is reflective of this.

Accordingly, we have applied a subsidy across all our delegate registrations in order to encourage registrations from members who wish to share learning.

Booking for this conference will open mid September, where this page will be updated. For now, we ask that people Save the Date.
