The College has paid tribute to Dr Gary Jenkins, the psychiatrist who was brutally murdered in a homophobic attack, in a Cardiff park.
Dr Jenkins, a member of the RCPsych, died in hospital 16 days after being attacked in Bute Park during the early hours of 20 July.
Dr Jenkins, a father of two from Cardiff, lived his life ‘happily with love, music, creativity and dedication to his profession’ his family said.
The College said: “We were all deeply shocked by this gruesome attack and murder of our much-loved colleague.
“Dr Gary Jenkins was a very well-respected member and wonderful psychiatrist.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to all his friends, family and colleagues.”
The College added: “Let us be clear – there is no room in society for anti LGBTQ+ violence or any hate crime.”
If any College members have been affected by this tragic killing, please contact the Psychiatrists’ Support Service (PSS).
