    Fees and expenses guidance within the UK justice system is divided among three distinct bodies: the Legal Aid Agency (LAA), the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS):

    Legal Aid Agency (LAA) - The LAA manages funding, fees, and disbursements for defence professionals providing legal aid in civil, family, and criminal law.

    Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) - The CPS manages remuneration for prosecution advocates, external counsel, operational witnesses, and costs sought against convicted defendants.

    HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) - HMCTS is responsible for setting the civil court fees paid by litigants to initiate or progress legal actions, as well as managing the system for fee exemptions.
