Patient Recorded Outcome Measures (PROMs) in Community Mental Health Implementation Guide

The National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH) at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) are developing an evidence-based implementation guide for routine Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in community mental health services for adults, including older adults, with severe mental illness (SMI). This work has been commissioned by NHS England.

The National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH) at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) are developing and delivering evidence-based implementation guidance for routine Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in community mental health services for adults, including older adults, with severe mental illness (SMI). This work has been commissioned by NHS England.

Increasing the use of PROMs in community mental health services is an important feature of the 2019 NHS Long Term Plan. In collaboration with an expert stakeholder group, NHS England has recommended three PROMs for use in community mental health services to implement by the end of 2023/24. These are DIALOG, Goals Based Outcomes (GBO) and ReQoL-10.

The implementation guidance will be for individuals and organisations working towards the implementation of PROMs in transformed community mental health services and will include 1) recommendations for the delivery of PROMs, 2) administration of the PROMs and 3) the rationale for the use of the three PROMs (singly or in combination) at multiple levels of the care system.

Expert Reference Group (ERG) Vacancies

The NCCMH are convening an ERG of mental health clinicians, providers, and people with lived experience of SMI and Community Mental Health Services, to inform and guide the development of the guidance, comment on draft versions of the guidance as requested and provide support for the project as a whole. The ERG will meet three times between May and June 2023.

If you are a mental health professional with experience of using or implementing either of the above three PROMs and are interested in applying, please read the role description for how to apply here.

The deadline for applications is 12pm on 3 May 2023.

If you have any questions about this project, please email us.
