Dean's Quarterly Update
June 2024
Dear members,
Welcome to the College’s fourth Dean’s Quarterly Update email.
We are making so much progress on so many fronts, it is an exciting time and there is much to report on.
For one thing we have developed guidance on the recognition and approval of trainers to enable employers and education providers across the UK to ensure a standardised approach to supervision and training, and to ensure that curricula requirements can be delivered and met.
We’re also delighted to announce that the RCPsych’s first Certification course on Public mental health leadership, launched in April, and International Diploma in Older Adults’ Mental Health, expected to begin later this year, are both fully booked. We’re looking forward to welcoming the first cohort on both programmes. You can read more about the leadership course below.
I’d like to remind members – both trainers and trainees – that the deadline to change over from the old curricula to the new curricula implemented in 2022 is this August.
The College’s International Congress is of course just around the corner now. It kicks off with our fantastic Mindmasters quiz, which is so much fun, if you are coming to Congress I hope to see you there. Find out about which teams are competing in the article below.
There’s plenty more to read in this update, including a report on the successful trainees’ conference in April, and a round up of the latest CPD offerings from the College.
I hope you find this Quarterly Update useful, and feel like I do, that we’re making great progress in many important areas. Do get in touch and let me know how I and my team are doing – I would love to know what we are doing well and where we could do better.
Best wishes,
Professor Subodh Dave, Dean, RCPsych
