RCPsych NI working in partnership to address COVID-19 Impact

Northern Ireland

The College in Northern Ireland is pleased to be supporting Dr Maggie McGurgan, Chair of our PEC Committee, in an innovative project where we will be working collaboratively with Aware NI to gather thoughts and feelings from children and young people, aged 6-16, on how Covid-19 has impacted upon them.

Dr Maggie McGurgan said, "The changes to our world because of  Covid-19 have had a huge impact on all of us, but perhaps mostly on our young people. We want to hear from children & young people and encourage them to think about things that have been difficult as well as things that have perhaps been more positive.

It’s a great opportunity to ensure that young people’s voices are heard and that important themes from this can be shared anonymously with those running and developing services."

Tom McEneaney, Head of Business Development with Aware, said, "Aware is delighted to be partnering with RCPsych NI  on this great initiative for young people. This has been and continues to be a very challenging time and this project is an opportunity to gain some very valuable information on young people’s experiences."

The responses will be used to inform and educate key stakeholders on the impact of Covid-19, with the results available in the late summer.
