Overview of the role

This role will have oversight of all College international activity and will advise Officers and College committees on all matters relating to our international work. The College Lead for Global Mental Health will promote the work of the College internationally and will be the clinical lead for the International team’s programme of work, in collaboration with the International Manager and Director of Professional Standards.

The postholder will work with Council, the International Advisory Committee, Officers and SMT to set the strategic direction for the work of the College.   

Key Responsibilities

  • To support and advise the President and College Officers in all matters relating to the international work of the College, including the roll out of the International Strategy and specific projects undertaken by the College.  
  • Work with the Chief Executive, Director of Professional Standards and the College’s International Team to support and engage with international members and International Divisions.
  • Build networks and partnerships with international healthcare providers, organisations, governments, and healthcare professionals.  
  • To provide clinical leadership to International training programmes projects, including advising International team staff.  
  • To be the clinical lead for the development of new programmes of work and funding. 
  • Liaise and advise College officers and representatives on matters relating to the International matters.  
  • To ensure that all international initiatives meet the values of the College, as set out in the International Strategy, and to ensure that all international work is  human rights based and can demonstrate that the College is able to work freely with people from all cultures, and is not complicit with systemic stigma that disadvantages people with mental health problems in any way.
