Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard awarded Honorary Fellowship

Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard was presented with her Honorary Fellowship at a ceremony at Prescot Street last week (Thursday 8 June).

The Honorary Fellowship award is the highest accolade that the College can give members, and is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a distinguished service to humanity in relation to the study, prevention or treatment of mental illness or psychiatry throughout their careers.

Dame Helen is Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, the immediate past Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, from 2016-2019, and a GP Principal in Lichfield, Staffordshire. Her academic portfolio has included a wide range of research methodologies, running a clinical trials unit, running a postgrad MSc programme, mentoring Drs in difficulty and leading the Community Based Medicine education programme.

During the ceremony on 8 June we also welcome 17 new Fellows of the College, who had travelled from across the country and the world. The Fellows presented last week were:
