'Beyond Today: Inspiring psychiatrists in clinics, research, education and leadership'
This year’s conference provides psychiatrists with a fantastic opportunity to:
- explore emerging themes in clinical psychiatry such as advances in rTMS, psychedelics in treatment, diagnosis and treatment of cognitive disorders
- motivate psychiatrists to become clinical leaders in establishing world-class service
- inspire psychiatrists in education through novel initiatives in medical student teaching
- make psychiatrists aware of amazing support available when they face adversities.

Speakers
Professor Raja Mukherjee OBE - From there to here. A journey of change.
Professor Raja Mukherjee is an Adult Learning Disability Consultant Psychiatrist for Surrey and Border’s Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, with interest in the management of developmental disorders across the lifespan. In September 2009 he started the first NHS based specialist Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders behavioural clinic and since then has seen several hundred cases for specialist second opinion as a National referral service. Dr Mukherjee completed his PhD on the subject of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome in 2014.
Professor Mukherjee was awarded an MBE for his work related to FASD in the Kings Birthday Hours list in June 2023for his over 20 years work leading this field.
In wider work, he is currently Clinical Lead for Adult neurodevelopmental services provided by Surrey and Borders including Adult ASD and ADHD services across Surrey, Hampshire and Portsmouth. He is a an executive committee member and Finance Office of the RCPsych SIG on neurodevelopmental disorders, and an Executive member of the ID Faculty. He is Lead for Psychiatry at the new Surrey Medical School.
Dr Graham Campbell - Psychedelics in Psychiatry: Where are we now?
Graham worked for 8 years as a consultant psychiatrist at Mill View Hospital in Brighton & Hove. He is interested in neuroscience and psychotherapy. He completed an MSc in Neuroscience from KCL/IoP and trained with the Imperial College Psychedelic Research Group to work as an assistant psychedelic guide on the psilocybin vs escitalopram depression trial.
He has helped organise and facilitate psychedelic integration groups in Brighton since 2019 and has worked as an associate editor for an edition of Frontiers in Psychiatry on the potential clinical application of psychedelics.
He is a member of the Advisory Council with The Institute of Psychedelic Therapy (IPT) and co-chairs ‘Academic Circle’ discussion groups for IPT members/affiliates.
In 2020, he left the NHS to work full-time as a trial psychiatrist and psychedelic guide for Small Pharma and Imperial College’s dimethyltryptamine (DMT)-assisted psychotherapy trials for depression. Phase I and Phase IIa trials have now been completed. Graham helped develop a therapist training programme for the DMT trials, having co-produced the psychedelic therapy framework.
He is currently working in private practice in Brighton & Hove
Professor Subodh Dave - Workforce Wellbeing in the Post-Covid Era
Professor Subodh Dave is the Dean for the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a consultant for Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. He is passionate about co-production and patient involvement in Quality Improvement, and has lead work within psychiatry education to that effect. He has held a range of Medical Education posts and has assisted with the psychiatric curriculum both nationally and internationally.
He is a keen runner and champion of well-being services for doctors and other healthcare workers. He serves on various committees, driving representation and improvement for differential attainment, social justice in medical curricula, and equality and diversity.
