Event Information
Overview - event not recorded
The College will be holding a debate on assisted dying and assisted suicide, as the first of a series of special President’s Lectures events for members.
The motion of this debate will be ‘ This House believes Assisted Dying/Assisted Suicide should not be available to people whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness.”
The live audience will be asked to vote on the motion before hearing the debate. Two speakers will make the case for and against the motion, and there will be a Q and A during which speakers take questions from the floor, followed by a short reception.
While we encourage attendees to join us at RCPsych Prescot Street if possible, this event will be streamed live and members will be able to join remotely to watch the debate, vote on the motion and propose questions for the panel.
Debate Chair

Speakers for the motion
- Professor Patricia Casey
- Professor Julian Hughes
