Event Information
What will this event cover?
What if what we eat could meaningfully shape how we feel, think, and recover?
Join leading international and national experts for a thought-provoking, evidence-based event exploring nutritional psychiatry—a rapidly advancing field examining how diet and nutrients influence brain function, mood, and mental health outcomes. Drawing on neuroscience, gut–brain science, epigenetics, and clinical practice, nutritional psychiatry is reshaping how we think about prevention, treatment, and recovery in mental illness.
This half-day conference will unpack the latest research linking diet and mental health, while critically examining how—and whether—this growing evidence base is translating into real-world clinical care. From landmark trials and meta-analyses to nutrigenomics, the gut–brain axis, and the practical realities of implementation within the NHS, the programme bridges science and practice with honesty, nuance, and ambition.
Speakers will explore both the promise and the challenges of nutritional psychiatry, addressing clinician perceptions, systemic barriers, and the vital question of how we move from books and buzzwords to meaningful bedside change—particularly for people living with severe mental illness.
Designed for clinicians, researchers, and mental health professionals, the event combines expert talks, interactive Q&A, and a lively panel discussion, offering practical insights alongside critical reflection.
The conference will be chaired by Dr Stefania Bonaccorso, Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist at North London NHS Foundation Trust and Academic Secretary for the RCPsych London Division, alongside Dr Ally Jaffee, Trainee Psychiatrist at North London NHS Foundation Trust and Co-Founder of the award-winning Nutritank.
Whether you are curious, sceptical, or already passionate about the food–mood connection, this conference will leave you informed, challenged, and inspired to think differently about mental health care.
