New Equity Champion network up and running
Following a College-wide recruitment process, we were delighted to hold an induction session last month to welcome our new RCPsych Equity Champions.
President Dr Lade Smith, CEO Sonia Walter and Chair of Chairs, Dr Jon Van Niekerk joined our Presidential Leads for Equity and Equality and Women’s Mental Health and other speakers to welcome and thank the group for taking on this crucial role, sharing their vision and insights to help guide them.
Our Equity Champion Network will work with devolved nations, divisions and faculties to help deliver the College’s ‘Fairness for All’ strategy, acting as ambassadors to make equity, diversity and inclusion everyone’s business.
Since our last update we are also delighted to welcome the following new Equity Champions:
- Wales/SAS doctors – Dr Jacqueline Palmer
- Eastern – Dr Lubna Ahmad
- Northern and Yorkshire – Dr Theresa Ugalahi
- North West – Dr Victoria Ozidu
- Liaison – Dr Margaret Gan
- Rehabilitation and social – Dr Anneka John-Kamen/Dr Isabel Millard
- General adult – Dr Neeti Sandhu/Dr Amrita Joottuz
Final recruitment begins soon
Our aim is to have representation across all areas, and we will shortly begin our final round of recruitment encouraging all members and affiliates as well as exec committee members to apply.
Recruitment will be for new Equity Champions to represent the following divisions and faculties:
- Trent
- South Eastern
- South Western
- Academic
- Addictions
- Eating disorders
- Intellectual disability
- Medical psychotherapy
- Neuropsychiatry
