RCPsych Registrar nominations to open in January
We’re delighted to announce that nominations for the next RCPsych Registrar will open on 17 January 2025. This sits alongside nominations for several other elected positions which are now open.
The dynamic Registrar role involves leading campaigns, influencing stakeholders and shaping policy at a national level.
Members who would like to take up this exciting but challenging position will have until midday on 14 February 2025 to put themselves forward. Members will also be able to nominate another candidate who they think would be well suited for the role.
The successful candidate will formally take up the five-year term of office following the AGM in June 2025 when Dr Trudi Seneviratne OBE’s term comes to an end.
Nominations for a range of other elected roles within the College’s faculties, divisions, special interest groups and the Psychiatric Trainees’ Committee are open until midday on 17 January 2025.
The positions provide members with a chance to represent their colleagues, contribute to the College’s direction and support improvements in the profession. They also provide opportunities to develop leadership and communication skills, gain fresh perspectives, tackle challenges, build networks and influence policy.
Dr Trudi Seneviratne OBE, Registrar of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said:
“As RCPsych Registrar, I immediately had to engage with some of the most important challenges facing the profession and ensure our members were supported through the pandemic. It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside members and staff to influence and shape policy during these difficult times. The support offered by the College is second to none.
“Being an Officer of the College provides you with a platform to advocate for the needs of people who have a mental illness and psychiatrists. I’m particularly proud of the collective efforts we’ve made to raise awareness of the importance of young children’s mental health among the media and public.
“I would encourage everyone considering applying for an elected role at the College to throw their hat into the ring. We all know how satisfying it can be to make a difference to people’s live and these roles will give you a near limitless supply of opportunities to do just that.”
