Associate Registrar, Comorbid Mental health and Substance use

  • Location : Remotely, with attendance in person at some meetings and conferences
  • Status : Term of office to June 2030
  • Salary : Voluntary role/unpaid
  • Closing date : 06/10/2025
  • Interview date : 16/10/2025

Overview of the role

People who experience co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders (CoSUM) commonly have high rates of unmet need and significantly adverse health outcomes. They are a key patient population for mental health and substance use services, yet most clinicians are not well enough skilled to make an appropriate assessment and treatment plan, and health systems lack sophisticated mechanisms to provide the support they need.

This key role will work collaboratively across the College to use its influence to improve the management of comorbid substance use and mental illness. It will provide specialist and expert advice on the subject area, and lead work in supporting, developing and evaluating the implementation of the College Report on CoSUM and substance use credentialling.

Further information about the role and key responsibilities can be found in the full job description below.
