We are pleased to announce a series of virtual monthly trafod sessions for members in Wales.
'trafod' is the Welsh word for 'discuss'. The Trafod series introduces monthly sessions for members across faculties in Wales on topical areas.
The series was established with a session on 'Gwaith Cymraeg', looking at the Welsh language in the workplace. This initiated a Welsh in the workplace taster course for which funding has been allocated by the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
This bespoke Welsh language taster course is for RCPsych Wales members and other NHS Wales mental health practitioners and will introduce everyday words and phrases, as well as useful terminology specific to the mental health sector.
Following on from this, members were able to attend a session on Adult ADHD, from Dr Reddy. There was significant interest in this session which has kickstarted the formation of a Welsh Neurodevelopmental Special Interest Group.
The group will work with the College's SIG and seeks to promote a wider discussion and understanding of neurodevelopmental disorder across the whole field of psychiatry. Whilst seeking to inform and develop services across Wales.
The Trafod series will continue throughout 2025, the first quarter of the year sees presentations on Prescribing in pregnancy and breastfeeding by Dr Divya Sakhuja, Buvidal is changing the landscape of opiate addiction: why Wales is a global leader? by Professor Jan Melichar, as well as a further presentation by our Chair of Medical Psychotherapy Dr Seb Viola.
Members are encouraged to contact Annie Fabian if they have not have seen the initial email distribution with further information.
