CPD eLearning: round up of what’s new

It has been a busy time for CPD eLearning since the last quarterly update, with a number of new releases to highlight:

  • Diabetes and the psychiatrist: optimising patient care – this module recaps on the evidence-based treatment of diabetes and the importance of optimising glycaemic control, as well as the role of the management of comorbid mental disorders (depression, psychosis and eating disorders) in helping patients to attain this.
    CPD credits: 1

  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) - this module gives the learner an overview of PMDD and considers specifically the interface between the disorder and mental health services, including first-hand accounts from people with lived experience.
    CPD credits: 1

  • Free to access: Mental health during the perimenopause and menopause – this module looks at perimenopause and menopause in the context of mental health, the hormonal and neurotransmitter changes that occur, perimenopausal mood disorders and prescribing hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
    CPD credits: 1.5

  • Free to access: Equity versus equality – in this podcast, CPD eLearning Podcast Editor Dr Nadia Imran talks to Professor Sir Michael Marmot and RCPsych’s Joint Presidential Lead for Equity and Equality, Dr Amrit Sachar, about health equality and health equity in the context of public health and public mental health.
    CPD credits: 0.5

  • Free to access: Health inequalities - this module introduces the concepts of health equality, health equity, social justice and intersectionality. It examines the importance of parity of esteem between physical and mental health, trauma-informed approaches and an applied case study on domestic violence and abuse.
    CPD credits: 2.5

  • Self-harm in adolescents: Part 2 – treatment and interventions - this module focuses on treatment and interventions for young people aged 8 to 18 years who self-harm, highlighting good clinical practice. It is the second module of a two-part series, with Self-harm in adolescents: Part 1 – risk assessment and management having also been updated in February.
    CPD credits: 1 per module.

Other modules recently updated as part of our established Module updates programme, where we look to update our content every 2 years, include Domestic abuse: identifying and responding to victims and perpetrators, Neuroimaging in dementia and Diversity training for psychiatrists.

We are pleased to offer some of our content free for those without a paid subscription.
