Frequently asked questions

No, as an invited speaker you will not need to register for the Congress. In the past we have asked speakers to register for the days that they are not presenting. This is not the case this year. All speakers will have their Congress registration waived for the entirety of the four days. We will provide you with details on how to access the platform at a later date.
We will be using a virtual event platform to host the International Congress this year. The platform will provide an interactive and immersive experience for all delegates. We want to replicate the atmosphere of a face-to-face Congress as much as possible while not being able to meet in person, however the platform will be very different to how we have been running webinars so far over the last year. On the platform we will be hosting the educational programme, poster presentations, an exhibition hall and the Congress cultural fringe.

You will need access to a reliable internet connection and a PC or laptop to access the platform. The sound quality on talks is better when you use headphones with a microphone, as background noise then tends to be reduced.

You will need to use either Google Chrome or Firefox to access the system.

If you are using a company device you need to check if there is a firewall. If so you will need to ask your IT department to grant access to webinar.net

Yes. We will be working with an agency, ICS Events, who will be contacting all speakers to arrange training slots and tests prior to the Congress taking place.

The aim of these sessions is to familiarise yourself with the platform, check you can access it ok and run through how the sessions will work on the day.

Please be aware that these training sessions are a requirement of presenting. Please make sure you book and register for one of these training sessions before doing your talk at Congress.

Your session organiser has already informed us whether your session will be live or pre-recorded. If you are unsure, please check with them or refer to the speaker letter you received from the College.
All sessions, whether live or pre-recorded, will be recorded on to the platform and uploaded for a time following the Congress for delegates and speakers to access on demand. These recordings will only be available to registered delegates of the Congress.
The International Congress is open to the press. If you do not want your talk/session publicised in anyway please let us know by contacting congress@rcpsych.ac.uk before 20 April 2021

Please make sure you have contacted and received permission from any colleagues, patients, service users and carers that you refer to in your presentation

If your presentation title and/or name is incorrect in the programme please contact congress@rcpsych.ac.uk so we can amend it for you
If your session is going to be pre-recorded we will arrange a time with you to record the talk in advance. The recordings will then be played through the platform at the time scheduled in the programme. After the talks have been played we will then open up the session for a live Q&A, ideally the chair and all the speakers will be present for this.
Yes, our partner agency ICS events, will be contacting all speakers in the sessions that have indicated they wish to pre-record and arrange recording slots with you. They will be on hand to assist with the recording
No system is infallible and it’s important to have a plan B in case of technical issues during the Congress. Please ensure you send us a photo of yourself ahead of the Congress. We will then use this to display a holding slide with your information during your talk if your video fails. You should be able to dial in to the session via your phone if your connection fails entirely. We will send you this information closer to the time
