The West Midlands Division are excited to welcome as host of wonderful speakers for the Spring Conference 2023. Join us for this online conference on Thursday, 27 April 2023 for a day of CPD with your local West Midlands Division.

We are delighted to announce the following speakers:

Dr Catherine Durkin: Is the clinical lead for the womens’ prisons (HMP Downview, Send and Bronzefield) within the Health and Justice division of Central and North West London Foundation Trust. Dr Durkin has clinical oversight of the mental health needs of women in prison within our trust and have been instrumental in establishing a neurodevelopmental pathway within the womens’ prisons. She has particular research and clinical interest in adult ADHD in women in prison.

Dr Khurram Sadiq: Is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Psychiatrist, in London, is the ADHD lead in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust , UK and Clinical and Care Professional Lead ADHD SE London ICS. Dr Sadiq is a TEDx Speaker and has delivered 5 TEDx talks since 2019 and the fifth one was in October’22 in Las Vegas. His niche areas are: Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry (Autism and ADHD), Gaming and mental health, social media and mental health, Early Intervention in Psychosis and Compassionate Leadership.

Dr Rashi Negi: After completing medical training, Rashi started working as a consultant old age psychiatrist in 2010, currently working at Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust. In her role of an old age psychiatrist, she works with and support supports families and patients suffering with dementia and associated complex problems. Dr. Rashi Negi has been awarded fellowship of prestigious Royal college of Psychiatrists. Being active in research, she is also ‘specialty lead for Dementia and Neurodegenerative disorders’ for CRN at NIHR and is an ‘Honorary Senior Clinical Fellow for dementia at Keele University’.

She is also has an extensive education and training portfolio as she has been an undergraduate support tutor with Keele medical school for past 11 years and College tutor for south Stafford MPFT for past 2 years. She has been working in her current role with HEE, as a Foundation Training Programme Director for Career, for North Midlands Foundation School since last year.

She has worked in the role of ‘clinical director’ for 3 years and led initiatives like ‘locality memory clinics’ and been an integral part of projects like ‘frailty hubs’ which is well established in East Staffordshire and has been benefitting the local population. She recently had been appointed as ‘Associate Medical Director For Quality Improvement’ and hoping to develop robust clinical care systems to improve quality of the care to the patient and their satisfaction.

A keen sportsperson, with a passion for fitness, she has taken part in many fund-raising activities for Alzheimer’s society and Alzheimer Research UK, raising much needed funds for her patients.

Professor Rafey Faruqui is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist at Kent and Medway NHS Trust (KMPT) and Honorary Professor at the University of Kent. He is a former Chair of Neuropsychiatry Faculty at the RCPsych. Rafey is Chair of South Eastern Division of the RCPsych and represents English Divisions at the Board of Trustees. His research interest includes brain Health, traumatic brain Injury, workforce development and disaster area workforce support. He is Editor of Oxford Textbook of Neuropsychiatry.
