Dr Sameer Jauhar

Professor of Psychiatry and Section Head, Clinical Neuroscience, Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton

Dr Jauhar graduated in Medicine from Glasgow University in 2002, having also completed a degree in Public Health and Epidemiology. He moved to the Institute of Psychiatry in 2012, to work with Oliver Howes and Shitij Kapur on predominantly PET studies of the dopamine system, with the focus on psychosis and treatment response.

His research interests focus on understanding neurobiological causes of psychotic illness, with a focus on the affective psychoses, and treatment of psychotic and affective disorders. He has received travel awards/grants from the European Psychiatric Association, European Congress of Neuropsychopharmacology, British Association fpr Psychopharmacology, and Schizophrenia International Research Society.

Dr Nicky Kalk

Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist and Visiting Clinical Lecturer

Nicky Kalk is a research active consultant addiction psychiatrist who leads an Alcohol Care Team in a busy general hospital.  Her recent publications concern the relationship between substance use and psychiatric crisis, how patients with dual diagnosis are managed in the crisis pathway, and factors relating to drug related deaths.  She is currently involved in research evaluating Alcohol Care Teams and the implementation of the drug strategy as well as experimental pharmacology work to further understanding of opioid overdose. 

 

Dr Blanca Bolea

MD. Msc. PhD. Consultant Psychiatrist Women's College hospital-SCOPE Service, assistant professor University of Toronto. 

Dr. Blanca Bolea, M.D, M.Sc. (Affective Neuroscience, University of Maastricht, Holland), Ph.D.(University of Bristol, UK) joined the Psychopharmacology Unit at Bristol University in 2005 and worked under the supervision of Prof. David Nutt with whom Dr. Bolea founded the Bristol Adult ADHD Clinic in 2008.  She currently works as a general psychiatrist at Women’s College Hospital (WCH-Toronto, Canada) where she is the director of the SCOPE Mental Health Program and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She has authored several guidelines on the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in adults, as well as a handbook on the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.

She is an innovation fellow at WCH’s Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care (WIHV), where she is piloting the use of an ecological momentary assessment for the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD and ADHD. She is a founding member of UKAAN (UK Adult ADHD Network). She has been an advisor for several charities and governmental organizations such as ADD-UK (Attention Deficit Disorder –United Kingdom) and the Cayman Islands Mental Health Commission.
